Press on
Philippians 3:13-14
Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
The New Living Translation says, "I'm still not all I should be...." Our question to ourselves should be, "Am I content with where I am in my walk with Christ, or do I want more?" And, "Am I really forgetting those things which are past? Am I pressing forward or am I stopped in the middle of the road, or on the side of the road watching others go by criticizing their pressing forward while I'm doing nothing?" It's easy to stop to smell the roses and stay there. We're supposed to be moving on, but many of us are stuck where we were 5 years ago....10 years ago, 20 years ago. We're still criticizing folks who passed us by (spiritually) years ago. They are speaking to mountains and seeing them move while we're still complaining about the mountain questioning God for it, and wondering if it's His will for there to be a mountain in our way. Marilyn Hickey gave some insight on this matter today in her teaching today. She said, "If it's God's will for that mountain to be there, why'd He tell you to move it?" Jesus said we could speak to this mountain or that mountain and tell it to move. And so why don't we? Is God unable to move it when we speak, or are we unable to believe He can do it? Well folks, God can certainly move it. The question is, are we ready for it to be moved, or have we grown attached to it? We all have mountains in our lives. Are we trying to climb over them, or go around them? Or have we just accepted that the mountain's there, and it's not going anywhere, so neither are we? Let's press on brothers and sisters. Let's not sit idly by and hear about signs and wonders......and let's not follow signs and wonders......they're supposed to follow YOU! Speak to that mountain in your life, no matter what it may be. Sickness, fear, financial problems, unsaved loved ones.......no matter what your mountain, speak to it. No one else can speak to it for you. YOU must command it out of the way. Your mountain can only hear your voice, not mine, not someone else's. Quit looking back and patting yourself on the back about the mountains that you spoke to that moved yesterday, and last year.....PRESS FORWARD and move on towards the finish line. Does a mile runner stop after the quarter mile and celebrate because he beat everyone to the quarter mile marker? No, not if he expects to finish the race. He keeps going and pressing forward. Have a wonderful day and God bless. :-) James
